postpartum hormones and spellbinding -SERT

Hi all, have been trying to read a lot about antidepressants and the severe effects it can have on the brain, causing so much horror for both the medicated as their loved ones. I am doing this because it‘s happening to people very close to me. Just look at my previous post for their story.

I’ve also been reading a lot about (peri)menopause as I strongly believe that the original symptoms the medicated one close to me experiences, were caused by a disbalance of hormones, starting from her pregnancy. Her doctor however subscribed her Sertraline, which made things worse or her on so many levels: changing her behaviour, giving her heavy withdrawal symptoms after tapering to fast all by herself and a depression ( which she didn’t have before starting the meds).

Now what stood out in both of my researches is that both the peri(meno)pause and the spellbinding & withdrawal part of the antidepressants share a lot of similar symptoms. Things like extreme long lasting moods wings, memory loss, loss of libido, and some sort of bipolar behaviour. With the menopause, hormones can help to balance things out again make the person feel more like themselves again.

So what I was wondering, if there is this layering and overlapping going on, like in this story: perimenopause + spellbinding due to antidepressants + withdrawal symptoms. Would getting on hormones maybe help the brain recover faster on all layers? Or is that just wishful thinking…. I realize that probably no research has been done on this matter as yet, but maybe some of you have experience with this approach?
