- Is this drug safe while breastfeeding? Has it been studied in nursing infants?
- What does the FDA “black box warning” mean for me — and does it apply to postpartum women?
- What is the risk of increased suicidal thoughts or behaviors in mothers my age?
- How could this medication affect my bonding and emotional connection with my baby?
- Can this medication cause withdrawal symptoms in my baby (in utero or via breast milk)?
Questions About Alternatives
- What non-drug options are available to help with postpartum mood (therapy, support groups, lifestyle support)?
- Are there medical conditions (thyroid, anemia, vitamin deficiencies, hormonal changes) that could be causing my symptoms?
- Can we do labs first to rule out other causes of fatigue, sadness, or anxiety?
