Madisyn- Madi’s law
Madi’s law was created to make change in Canada so another family does not have to suffer as her loved one’s have. Lives have been lost, her future stolen. Her mother is working to change the laws in Canada. Madi’s law.
‘”It would have saved my daughter’s life. I don’t feel that asking patients … to monitor themselves is feasible.”
But the psychiatrist says it’s would be hard to implement:
“If a capable person says you can’t share the information with my family member, then you’re not able to disclose diagnosis, specific treatments — even if there are common severe potential side-effects, including a potential increase in suicidality,” Lalonde told CBC News.
That changes if there’s imminent risk. But prescribing new drugs or increasing the dosage wouldn’t generally meet that bar, he said.

What if it was a law that an loved one or an advocate has to be there to witness and understand the life changing drug they are about to embark on? What if they were given informed consent and told the risks and the benefits. What if they were told these drugs will alter your brain chemistry, how that looks, we’re not quite sure. You might find relief or you might find yourself hating your parents, quitting your job and thinking everyone is against you. That would be truth in prescribing. Madisyn is not here because the medical establishment failed her in Canada. It’s a silent worldwide epidemic.
